Carsington Water Running Events and Triathlons 2026

Carsington Water is a fantastic place for a scenic casual run during your stay at Knockerdown Cottages, however, if you're looking to test yourself in a competitive environment there are loads of running and triathlon events taking place at Carsington Water across the year.

From 10ks, to half marathons and even triathlons, Carsington Water is ideal for running events due to its brilliant facilities at its visitor centre. For triathlons, swimming is held at its reservoir, with an outside route for running and cycling, including some roads.

Pacesetter events, in partnership with Severn Trent and British Triathlon, holds an exciting triathlon, with the 2026 yet to be announced. Athletes can choose from a range of race formats, including the standard triathlon distance, sprint distance, standard aqua bike and standard relay distance for up to 3 people, great for all experience levels.

The race kicks off with a scenic swim around Stone Island in the reservoir, followed by a fast, closed-road bike course in the local area, and finishes with a picturesque run along the waterside. Every finisher is awarded a commemorative medal, along with the added bonus of keeping their personalised race number and a high-quality silicone swim cap as special mementos of the day.

Onsite facilities are excellent, featuring ample parking, toilets, secure bag storage, and a fully staffed medical treatment centre with professional personnel and all the essential supplies. Hot and cold food and drinks will be available through the event to keep participants and spectators well fuelled.

Pacesetter Events

Over the course of the year, Run Through holds a number of half marathons and 10k events at Carsington Water. The run takes you around the scenic reservoir with great views of the surrounding Derbyshire Dales.

On the day you can expect a friendly team of marshals to help guide you around the course and included in your race entry fee is free event photographs, official chip timed results, post race goodies, and a bespoke event themed medal.

Run Through Running Events

Just a short 5-10 minutes walk from the Carsington Water visitor centre, where your triathlon or running event begins, Knockerdown Cottages offers the perfect place to unwind and recharge. Our collection of 16 charming self catering holiday cottages combine the creature comforts of home with fantastic onsite facilities.

After your race, treat yourself to a relaxing swim in our indoor heated swimming pool, maintained at a pleasant 29 degrees. Right next door, you'll find a communal social lounge with games room complete with table tennis, table football, and a pool table (note: the football and pool tables require £1 coins).

You can also benefit from a host of additional facilities included with your stay, such as cycle storage and maintenance facilities, a children's outdoor play area, a large private meadow, a shared laundry room (also requiring £1 coins), and two EV charging points.
