Our Dog Friendly Cottages

We have four dog friendly cottages at Knockerdown so if you plan on bringing your four legged friends with you thats no problem whatsoever.  There is a small fee of £25 per dog for the duration of your stay and our rules for bringing your dog can be found at the bottom of this page. 

Other facilities include swimming pool, games room and a massage and treatment room.

One of our two bedroomed cottages that has open plan living and dining space with doors leading out on to a patio and play area. This makes it a great choice for families who wish to bring their dogs with them. 

We can accept up to two dogs in Alstonfield.





The is also one of our dog friendly cottages. This two bedroomed cottage offers open plan living and dining, with French doors opening out onto the patio and play area so is perfect for bringing your dog along.

We can accept up to two dogs in Butterton.



The largest of our dog friendly cottages is ideal for groups of up to 12 people. This 5 bedroomed cottage offers a lovely country farmhouse feel in the relaxed setting of the Derbyshire dales.  Knockerdown facilities also include an on site indoor heated swimming pool. A perfect setting for the whole family to enjoy a break. 

We can accept up to two dogs in The Farmhouse.

Our smallest dog friendly cottage is Bonsall a lovely 1 bedroom accommodation all on the ground floor for smaller families.

Dog Policy

Responsible pet owners are welcome to bring dogs to specific 'Dog Friendly' properties. When booking it is essential that you check whether your pet is permitted at your chosen property; and please confirm the the number of pets you are bringing (maximum of 2 in each dog friendly cottage).

We charge £25 per dog to stay at our 'Dog Friendly' properties. However, if there is extra cleaning above and beyond what we consider to be the normal clean (for example if we find they have been in the bedrooms/upstairs), we have the right to charge a reasonable amount to cover our costs. 

Guests wishing to take pets to a property must abide by the following rules:

  • Dogs must be under strict control at all times while in the property;
  • Dogs must not be taken to the swimming pool and games room area. 
  • Dogs must be , well behaved, house trained, and kept strictly out of bedrooms and away from soft furnishings and beds;
  • Any fouling must be cleared up by you without delay and disposed of in the main refuge bin located in the car park. Please do not leave the bags outside your cottage doors. Any clearing up by our staff will incur a £100 fine;
  • The dog owner must bring the dog's bed or basket for sleeping in;
  • Dogs MUST NOT be left alone in the property or elsewhere at any time;
  • Dogs MUST NOT lie on beds and the property must be free from dog hair upon departure;
  • Dog owners must ensure that their pets are free from parasites and fleas before they occupy the property. Failure to do so will incur subsequent charges.
  • For your dog’s safety, we advise they must not be left unattended in the external areas as the property boundaries may not be totally secure
  • Dogs must be kept on their lead whilst walking around the site.
